Anthropic is launching a new API that allows its Claude Ai models to search on the web. The developers who use it can create apps based on Claude who provide updated information, said the company in a press release published on Wednesday.
The launch of the API comes when artificial intelligence companies try to increase their models in various ways that could attract new customers on their platforms. For its part, last anthropic week debuted a tool to connect the applications to Claude and an expanded “deep research” ability that allows accounts, websites and more.
“The developers can now increase Claude’s complete knowledge with current and real data by enabling the web research tool when requesting requests for (our) bees,” wrote Anthropic in its version. “With web research, developers can now create artificial intelligence solutions that draw on current information without having to manage their web research infrastructure.”
When the web research bees are enabled, Claude will use the “reasoning” features to determine whether a specific request would benefit from updated information or specialized knowledge. If Claude decides to search on the web, it will generate a research query, recover the results, analyze and provide an answer with quotes.
Claude can also perfect her query and conduct more research, using previous results to inform subsequent questions. Developers can customize this behavior and specify the domains from which Claude is allowed and it is not allowed to seek. Developers can also allow or prohibit the use of web research at the organization level, says Anthropic.
The price starts at $ 10 per 1,000 searches. Search works with the Sonet Claude 3.7 of Anthropic, the new sonnet Claude 3.5 and the Haiku Claude 3.5 models.
In the related news, anthropic is bringing the web research to Claude Code, its tool that allows developers to touch Claude to complete various coding activities. With the enabled web research, Claude Code can access the current API documentation, technical articles and other information on development tools and bookstores.
