Uber Eats arrives in Türkiye through $ 700 million trendyol acquisition

Uber is expanding his presence in Türkiye with his latest acquisition.

The travel and delivery giant acquired a control participation of 85% in Trendyol Go, the online meal and the delivery of expenditure based in Istanbul, for about $ 700 million in cash. The agreement offers an Uber instant market share for Uber Eats in the country, where Uber currently manages only a driving service.

Uber’s acquisition announcement comes the day before the company has planned its earnings of the first quarter. And with the expenditure for consumers who are expected to fall in 2025 due to the rates of President Trump, investors will want to reassure the fact that Uber is still ready for growth, even if the company has recently collected its offer from $ 950 million for the Foodpanda activity of the delivery hero in Taiwan.

Uber laid the foundations for expansion also in other arenas. It looks like every few weeks, Uber announces a new partnership of autonomous vehicles through its racing, delivery and goods.

Trendyol Go is the food delivery arm of the Madre Trendyol Group company, a fashion and retail e-commerce platform, which is the majority owned by Alibaba. The company declared in a deposit that it has delivered over 200 million orders in 2024, generating $ 2 billion of gross reservations, which increased by 50% compared to the previous year. There are more than 90,000 restaurants and 19,000 couriers on its market.

The acquisition should close in the second half of 2025. When it does, users will be able to continue using the Trendyol Go and Uber app “will introduce key capabilities in the coming years by Uber Eats,” said the company.

Uber’s latest acquisition comes while fighting for market share at home in the United States due to Doordash’s competition. In February, Uber intended to be the cause against Doordash, supporting anti -concurrent behavior. Doordash urged the courts to archive the case.

Today, Doordash has announced two important acquisitions to expand its presence in Europe: the United Kingdom Deliveo for 3.86 billion dollars and seven rooms for $ 1.2 billion.
