Tiktok implements new accessibility tools, including the alt text generated to

Tiktok announced Wednesday that is expanding his suite of accessibility tools by launching an alt text generated by the AI for photo, a high contrast mode and support for the audacious text preferences at the device level.

Tiktok introduced the support for the Alt text for the photos a few weeks ago, allowing creators to provide descriptive text for photos to help users with screen players understand the visual content through spoken descriptions. Now, the company is testing the alt text generated by the AI to automatically describe the photos aloud when the creators do not manually add the alt text.

The company states that the alt text generated by the AI will make Tiktok more accessible for people with visual disabilities. The move arrives while Instagram uses for the Alt text since 2018.

As for the new high -contrast mode, users will be able to turn it on with the new “color contrast” option in the accessibility section of the app. This will increase the color in the foreground of text, icons and elements of the user interface. This change will make Tiktok more usable for people with poor vision or sensitivity to low contrast, says the company.

Tiktok now also adheres to the compliance with the daring text of a user’s device, which means that it will automatically display all the in-app text in bold when enabled. This improves readability for users who prefer or rely on more daring characters.

“We know that when people feel seen, listened and supported, they have the power to share their stories, create and connect with others in significant ways,” said the company in a blog post. “That’s why we focus on the continuous construction of products that everyone is needed. We see accessibility not only as responsibility, but as an opportunity to innovate and encourage a more inclusive platform for our global community.”

The new features are combined with the existing suite of TikTok’s accessibility tools, which includes functionality such as captions automatically generated for video content, dark mode, text-vicolored and the possibility to regulate the size of the text through the app.
