Soundcloud seems to have quietly changed its terms of use to allow the company to form the IA on the audio that users load on its platform.
As identified by the ethics of technology and Newton-Rex, the latest version of the terms of soundcloud includes a provision that offers the platform permission to use the content uploaded to “inform, train, (or) develop”.
“Explicitly accept that your content can be used to inform, form, develop or serve as inputs for artificial intelligence or technologies or intelligence services as part and to provide services”, read the terms, which were updated last time on February 7th.
The terms have a cut for content based on “separate agreements” with third -party right trainees, such as record labels. Soundcloud has a series of license agreements with indie labels and important music publishers, including Universal Music and Warner Music Group.
Techcrunch was not able to find an explicit opt-out option in the platform settings menu on the web. Soundcloud did not immediately respond to a commentary request.
Soundcloud, like many large creators, is increasingly embracing artificial intelligence.
Last year, Soundcloud collaborated with almost a dozen sellers to bring tools fueled by artificial intelligence for remixing, generation of voices and creation of personalized samples on its platform. In a blog post last autumn, Soundcloud said that these partners would have received access to ID solutions contained to “guarantee the owners of rights (sic) to receive adequate credit and compensation” and has undertaken to “support ethical and transparent artificial intelligence practices that respect the rights of the creators”.

Numerous content and social media hosting platforms have changed their policies in recent months to allow first and third part artificial intelligence formation. In October, X of Elon Musk updated his privacy policy to allow external companies to train the IA on users’ places. Last September, LinkedIn changed its terms to allow him to scrape user data for training. And in December, YouTube began to allow thirds to train the IA on user clip.
Many of these moves have pushed the repercussions by users who claim that training policies should be optitis compared to opt-out and that argue that they should be credited and paid for their contributions to the AI training data sets.
